
JOB SUMMARY:
Market and sell insurance programs, products, and services through implementation of the company’s sales strategies and other marketing activities for insurance programs. Assists individual clients in evaluating their insurance needs and options, prepares and presents proposals, and serves current and prospective clients in the assigned territory and/or to designated customers.
JOB DUTIES:
• Implement sales and service strategies for insurance programs providing a consultative sales approach to protecting customer’s assets
• Provides consulting to prospects with regard to risk identification, proper coverage and risk transfer or funding, establishing the trusted adviser relationship
• Visit current and potential customers to present proposals and follow up as necessary to maintain current business, increase market share, and fully round customer accounts with additional product needs to meet established revenue goals
• Work seamlessly with other account executives to develop strategies to attract, maintain and round various insurance clients presented to the company
• Develop thorough new business and renewal submissions to provide a detailed, accurate picture of the customer or prospect’s operation and exposure to loss for the underwriting company
• Client Relationship Manager for designated customers, responsible for the overall relationship including retention and rounding with additional products
• Provide annual stewardship reports as part of renewal process to designated customers based on class, size, or other needs
• Maintain a schedule of prospective clients' policy expiration dates to ensure timely contact
• Identify, research, evaluate, and recommend new or expanded products or services to ensure customer satisfaction and risk protection
• Participate in the appropriate trade and professional associations to further the promotion of the agency products, services, and image
• Coordinates and implements, or assists as needed in company sponsored or supported client functions to provide social opportunities for marketing presentations and relationship building in assigned territory
• Identify opportunities to promote and sell the unbundled services available through the Risk Management & Patient Safety Institute as appropriate
• Assists in development of effective marketing materials to promote new business sales
• Assure application/proposal throughput is timely and thorough, following the established process and procedures
• Contributes materials included in the marketing proposals and collaborates in the preparation of the new and renewal proposals
• Supports the proper use of, and the data integrity of the agency management system
• Supports the established policies and procedures and contributes in a constructive manner to recommended changes to further enhance value of service and reduce exposure to E&O loss
• Prepare reports as required by manager
• Complete other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
Ten years of direct sales experience is required. Property and casualty insurance sales are preferred
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills are mandatory
Ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of individuals, develop a rapport and build business relationships quickly and effectively
Must be willing to travel throughout assigned territory on a regular basis. A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in marketing or a related business field (or a combination of education and experience) is required. Specialized training in risk and insurance management is highly desirable. CPCU, ARM, CIC, RPLU or other insurance designation a plus.
Must be a current licensed insurance sales agent, or licensed within 30 days of start, or 30 days after licensing class is offered by the state
